A/Prof Carlos Garcia-Esperon

Carlos is a stroke neurologist and early career researcher. He undertook his neurology training in neurology/stroke in Spain, Switzerland and Australia, followed by a PhD program at the University of Newcastle under Prof Parsons, Levi and Spratt’s supervision. 

Carlos has been involved in >35 stroke clinical trials as co-investigator, and has published >100 articles in peer-reviewed journal articles. His main areas of research interest are telestroke, access to stroke care in rural areas and cardiac CT use in acute stroke. He is the Director of the Acute Stroke Services at the John Hunter Hospital and a Conjoint Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle.
