Dr Montana Samantzis

Montana is an early-career Postdoctoral Researcher at the Queensland Brain Institute. She completed her PhD in April 2026 in the laboratory of Dr Matilde Balbi where she investigated the effect of neuromodulatory tools in health and disease with a focus on ageing and stroke. During the tenure of her PhD, she was the recipient of over $60K in research scholarships and grants related to her project. She has five and a half years’ experience in using gamma frequency stimulation in pre-clinical models of ischemic stroke through analysis of behavioural changes, in vivo electrophysiology, widefield calcium imaging, and histological markers.
